This is not accidental, for the concert’s programme is comprised of hits from musicals, films, operettas and light opera classics. One of the highlights of the programme is Neapolitan songs. Born at the confluence of the folk tradition and the high composition school, they became the true examples of easy classics in the 20th century and were performed by leading singers. At the New Year concert the Novaya Opera’s soloists will sing the wonderful music by George Gershwin, Leonard Bernstein, Emmerich Kálmán, Isaak Dunayevsky and many others. The ensemble of singers and instrumentalists will be led by the theatre’s director Dmitry Sibirtsev, pianist and winner of the Moscow City Literature and Arts Prize. You will also hear the popular songs from the repertoire of the world’s outstanding tenors: Funiculì, Funiculà; Por una cabeza; Caruso … and of course Be my love. |
