Valery Kritskov,

Conductor. In 1988, he graduated from the Moscow Institute of Culture with a degree in orchestra conducting (People’s Artist of Russia Tikhonov’s class). He worked for the Helikon-Opera Theatre of Moscow for a long time, before joining the Novaya Opera Theatre in 2002.

In the Novaya Opera theatre he conducts Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Snow Maiden and The Tsar’s Bride, Rubinstein’s The Demon, Tchaikovsky's The Maid of Orleans, Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana, Leoncavallo’s I Pagliacci, Verdi’s Nabucco, Wagner's Lohengrin, Strauss' Die Fledermaus, Valdgardt's The Cat's House, concert “Vincenzo Bellini” and ballets: Tchaikovsky’s The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker and Swan Lake, Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet and Cinderella, Carmen-Suite by G.Bizet-R.Shedrin and Minkus’ Don Quixote, Gounod’s Walpurgis Night, Khatchaturyan’s Spartacus, Delibes's Coppélia (joint productions with The Kasatkina and Vasilöv State Academic Classical Ballet Theatre and with the Imperial Russian Ballet). He is a Music Director of Voice of a Woman, which comprises three mono operas by 20th-century composers which are based on famous novellas: Gubarenko’s Tenderness (1971, after the novella by Henri Barbusse), Spadavecchia’s Letter from an Unknown Woman (1974, after the novella by Stefan Zweig), and Tariverdiev’s Waiting (1984, after the poem by Robert Rozhdestvensky).

Valery Kritskov has conducted a number of concert programs, such as Ten Sopranos (October 2013), Mezzo-soprano in Novaya Opera (February 2014), To Beautiful Ladies (gala-concert dedicated to the International Lady's Day 2014, 2015). Conducted Pergolesi's Stabat Mater in the Mirror Foyer of the Novaya Opera Theatre.
