Marguerite Gautier’s story related by Alexander Dumas fils has been adapted many times. The most famous one is Verdi’s opera La traviata. The Moscow Classical Ballet offers its own version of the story as a ballet melodrama.
The ballet to the music of Verdi’s La traviata (arranged by Pavel Salnikov) was first shown in the composer’s motherland in the year of the 100th anniversary of Verdi’s death. Passionate choreography combined with the beautiful melodies excited the Italian audience. This production has been successfully performed in Europe for many years. Recently it has been applauded in Greece, Portugal, and Spain. Now the Russian audience, too, has a unique opportunity to see the ballet.
