To commemorate its 20th Birthday, coming on 22 March, the theatre has prepared a dramatized show called This is Opera! and comprising scenes from the Novaya Opera’s best productions. They are united by single stage space with a luxurious three-tier chandelier in the centre. You will have an opportunity to listen to excerpts from Russian operas, including Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin and Iolanta, Rubinstein’s The Demon, as well as gems of Western classical masterpieces such as Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Rossini’s La Cenerentola, Bellini’s Norma, Verdi’s Nabucco, Rigoletto, La Traviata, I vespri siciliani, Offenbach’s Les contes d’Hoffmann, Strauss’ Die Fledermaus, staged by different directors. Tonight the characters of the productions meet on the stage of the Novaya Opera. Welcome to the mysterious and magic world of opera!
