Vitaly Efanov,

bass. Vitaly Efanov graduated from the Novosibirsk State Conservatory in 1998. In 1994, he joined the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, where he performed the leading bass parts in Dargomyzhsky’s The Mermaid, Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov and Khovanshchina, Borodin’s Prince Igor, Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta and Eugene Onegin, Rachmaninov’s Aleko, Shostakovich’s Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District, Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Verdi’s Aida, Thomas’s Hamlet, Puccini’s La Boheme, and Young David by Kobekin (world premiere).

Vitaly Efanov joined the Novaya Opera Theatre in 2000. As a Novaya Opera soloist, he performed in numerous Russian cities, Israel, and Cyprus. He also sang in Germany, Spain and Portugal and took part in the International Opera Festivals in Bulgaria and South Korea.

In 2009, he appeared as Fafner in a concert version of Wagner’s Das Rheingold in Sopot, Poland. He sang the part of Sparafucile in Verdi’s Rigoletto at the Met Opera in 2011. In the same year he appeared as Pimen in Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov at the Dallas Opera. In 2015, he sang the title role in Boris Godunov at the National Theatre in Prague, the part of Sobakin in Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar’s Bride at the Israeli Opera in Tel-Aviv, King Marke in Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde at the International May Festival of Wiesbaden (Germany).

The singer’s concert repertoire includes the bass parts in Mozart’s and Verdi’s Requiems, Shostakovich’s Symphonies 13 and 14, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9.

Vitaly Efanov has worked with prominent conductors such as Arnold Katz, Eri Klas, Evgeny Kolobov, Gintaras Rinkevicius, Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Paolo Arrivabeni, Jan Latham-Koenig, Graeme Jenkins, and Petr Kofron. Among the directors Vitaly has worked with are Dmitri Chernyakov, Achim Freyer, Jossi Wieler, Sergio Morabito, Steven Lawless, Kasper Holten, Nicola Raab and Linda Keprtova.
