Chaliapin Festival (11.02.2013).

The Novaya Opera’s Director Dmitry Sibirtsev visited the 31st Chaliapin International Opera Festival, held in the Musa Cälil Opera and Ballet Theatre in Kazan.
He attended Puccini’s Madama Butterfly conducted by the Italian maestro Marco Boemi, who said he hoped he would soon work with the Novaya Opera. Georgian tenor George Oniani, already familiar to the NO’s audience, sang the part of Pinkerton.
During his visit to Kazan, Mr. Sibirtsev’s had negotiations with the Kazan Theatre’s Director Raufal Mukhamedzyanov, who has held the office for 32 years and is a very experienced and knowing specialist.
The parties preliminary agreed that at the next Chaliapin Festival the Novaya Opera will show its new production of Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades.
“I am very pleased that the theatre has been well represented. Victor Gerasimenko has been highly acclaimed for his work as the designer for the new production of Verdi’s /Aida which opened the festival. The Novaya Opera’s tenor Nurlan Bekmukhambetov and soprano Marina Nerabeyeva have definitely become gems of the festival”,/ said Dmitry Sibirtsev.
