| Andrey Lebedev, Conductor. Andrey Lebedev is a conductor of the Novaya Opera Theatre and of the Symphony Orchestra of the Gnessins Russian Academy of Music.He graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in St. Petersburg (Prof. Kudryavtseva’s and Prof. Martynov’s class). During his 20 years of conducting he has done more than 1500 productions and concerts. In 2000 to 2002, he worked as a conductor at the Pushkin Opera and Ballet Theatre of Nizhny Novgorod and as a guest conductor of the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Nizhny Novgorod Philharmonic. In 2002 to 2004, he was a conductor of the Glinka Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre in Chelyabinsk. In 2007 to 2013, he was the chief conductor of the Sochi Municipal Symphony Orchestra. In 2004, he became a conductor of the Leonard Gatov Musical Theatre in Krasnodar, “Premiere”, and in 2012–2014 he was its artistic director and chief conductor. As a guest conductor, Andrey Lebedev collaborates with leading Russian and European music theatres and orchestras, including the Novaya Rossia State Symphony Orchestra (Moscow, artistic director and chief conductor Yuri Bashmet), the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra (Moscow, chief conductor Dmitri Jurowski), Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra (Moscow, chief conductor Vladimir Fedoseyev), St.Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, the orchestra of the Teatro Massimo Bellini (Catania, Italy), the Mikhailovsky Theatre (St. Petersburg), the Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in St. Petersburg and many others. Andrey Lebedev has performed with famous instrumentalists, such as Matsuev, Gindin, Knyazev, Gindin, Trostyansky, Murzha, Diev, Lidsky, and vocalists, such as Vedernikov, Kazarnovskaya, Gerzmava, Abdrazakov to name a few. In December 2016 the final part of the Vasily Ladyuk’s festival OPERA LIVE was held under the baton of Andrey Lebedev. Gounod's Faust in concert was performed by Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra in the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall. The main parts were performed by Ildar Abdrazakov, Irina Lungu, Sergey Romanovsky and Vasily Ladyuk. He has over 50 operatic and ballet productions in his repertoire, including Bizet’s Carmen, Verdi’s Traviata and Rigoletto, Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette, Puccini’s La Boheme, Leoncavallo’s I Pagliacci, Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, Strauss’/ Die Fledermaus/, Glinka’s Ruslan and Lyudmila, Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, The Queen of Spades and Swan Lake, Weinberg's The Passenger. In 2006, Andrey Lebedev joined the Novaya Opera as a guest conductor. He conducted Verdi's Rigoletto, Tchaikovsky's Iolanta in concert, Rossini and OperaMania. Since 2013, he has been a permanent conductor of the Novaya Opera. He conducted Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda in concert during the 2014 Epiphany Festival, the concert of the Novaya Opera’s soloists Agunda Kulaeva and Aleksey Tatarintsev, The Music of Love, in December 2013, his own interpretation of Eugene Onegin in concert in the Svetlanov Hall of the Moscow International House of Music in 2015, with Metropolitan Opera soloist Rodion Pogosov in the title role.In January 2016, he also conducted there a programme comprising two Requiems – by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Andrew Lloyd Webber. In 2017, he performed the programme in concert, dedicated to the 135th anniversary from the birth of Igor Stravinsky: cantata Babel, oratorip Threni: id est Lamentationes Jeremiae Prophetae (Russian premiere) and Requiem Canticles. In 2013 Andrey Lebedev took part in the theatre's tour in Australia in seven cities with the opera mix OperaMania. In 2016, Andrey Lebedev took part in the Novaya Opera’s tour in Ireland (Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in Dublin), where he conducted Puccini’s opera La Bohème, and in the tour in Austria (Brucknerhaus Concert Hall, Linz), where he conducted Eugene Onegin and a gala-concert of Russian composers. Andrey Lebedev is a jury member of the Golden Mask National Theatrical Award in the 2016–2017season. The La Boheme production, premiered in December of 2015, will be shown at Irish Bord Gáis Energy Theatre. The Novaya Opera’s tour will take place from November 30 to December 4, 2016. The Irish soprano Celine Byrne will perform the part of Mimi in three performances. |
