The French composer's setting for Shakespeare's masterpiece is a story about the birth of love and its death. It is also a story of treachery, with loneliness as its leading-motive. Prince Hamlet is extremely lonely, and his only ally in this production is the orchestra, which is placed on the stage to support the restless prince with its music and light.
