| | | | | 2 May’19 Thursday 19:00 Soiree 5: “I love you, Russia!” Concert Piano Maxim Biryukov Accordion Alexey Sokolov Bass guitar Mikhail Khokhlov Drums Rostislav Balchyunas The concert is titled after the first line of David Tukhmanov’s famous song to Mikhail Nozhkin’s lyrics. The theme of Motherland and love for the country is one of the most difficult in arts: the so-called social mandate often brings to emptiness and formalism… Fortunately, the best Soviet songs about Motherland (in all the aspects of the theme) are about deep, true feelings and emotions. That is why the songs performed at the concert survive to this day. Not only the older generation but also the very young one knows and sings them. What's the Beginning of Motherland, Where is childhood going, Song of the Faraway Homeland, The Golden Grove, Russian Field – the melodies of all these songs instantly come back to memory. They are to hear at home get-togethers, children's matinees, street fests, on large and small stages, and now at the Novaya Opera as well. The artistic director of the festival is the Novaya Opera’s director Dmitry Sibirtsev, a pianist and a winner of the Moscow City Literature and Arts Prize. |
