Many great songs have been composed to his verses. However, Dobronravov’s chief composer is his wife, Aleksandra Pakhmutova. Their phenomenal union has lasted more than 50 years and over the years they have written over 400 songs, including such masterpieces as Belovejskaya Pusha ( Belavezha Forest), Nadejda ( Hope), Kak molody my byli ( So Young We Were), Nezhnost' ( Tenderness), Geroi sporta ( Sport Heroes). Nikolai Dobronravov and Aleksandra Pakhmutova’s songs became the symbols of their epoch, but they are really timeless. Several generations grew up on them; many lines have become winged phrases. Last year Nikolai Dobronravov’s published a new book of poems comprising about 200 new poems of recent years. Thanks to stage director Sergey Shirokov the concert will turn to a nice recital of the outstanding poet. The stage director says, “we all know Nikolai Nikolaevich as a lyricist, but he has poems about the war, the theatre and the country. It is very important to show the poetry here as his core activity.” Nikolai Dobronravov himself will recite some of his poems. However, his songs will also gladden the listeners, who will hear famous songs by Mikael Tariverdiev and by Aleksandra Pakhmutova, who will play with the Novaya Opera orchestra.
