Vasily Ladyuk’s festival opens with Il barbiere di Siviglia (05.10.2014)

Acclaimed baritone, indisputable crowd-pleaser and Novaya Opera soloist Vasily Ladyuk holds his own Opera Live festival for the first time. Between October 16  and December 6, 2014 various concerts will take place on best Moscow venues. The festival will be opened with Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Novaya Opera.

Figaro is one of the singer’s signature roles: “The only one who was 100% convincing was Vasily Ladyuk in the title role of the adventurous barber. I have to use a cliché but there’s no helping it: cavatina sounded like sparkling champagne, all ensembles proved natural with the singer, he was brilliant in quick-pace passages and created very lively and true character. Bravo, Figaro! Bravo, Ladyuk!” (OperaNews)

No less famous are singers of other roles. Rosina will be interpreted by prima donna of the Bolshoi Theatre and Winner of the President of Russia Award Anna Aglatova. Rossinian tenor Sergey Romanivsky will act as Count Almaviva. Now a guest singer of La Scala, the Norwegian Opera, the Lille Opera and the Bolshoi Theatre Sergey Romanovsky started his career at the Novaya Opera between 2007 and 2009. As Doctor Bartolo we will see leading Novaya Opera bass, guest singer of the Klagenfurt Theatre and Toulon Opera Evgeny Stavinsky. Recently awarded with an Honoured Artist of Russia title Vladimir Kudashev will sing Basilio. Berta is an Honoured Artist of Udmurtia Alexandra Saulskaya-Shulyatieva, whose voice the press calls “burning, fiery, mysterious and nightly”.
