In
The Ivory, its stage director Aleksey Veiro is developing the theme of “people who are different” which he began in
The Ebony.
The Ebony characters are different because of their skin color, while
The Ivory characters are outcasts for other reasons (the performance’s working title and the main topic are
Feast, Time, Plague). The main idea of the production is one’s aspiration for something perfect and beautiful, in contrast to the mundanity outside the theatre, which is equivalent to death.
The performance will feature Renaissance secular music: chamber vocal miniatures by Orlando di Lasso, Adriano Banchieri, Pierre Passereau, Thomas Morley, Pierre Certon, Josquin des Prez, Juan del Encina, and John Farmer.
