| | | | | We have bought a harpsichord! (25.04.2014). Starting today, the Mirror Foyer of our theatre features a recently acquired Guido Bizzi harpsichord, which is a replica of the historical Goermans-Taskin instrument. It was originally a Flemish instrument by the Goermans family of harpsichord makers, which was remodeled by Pascal Taskin (1723–1793) into an enlarged French harpsichord. The bell-like tone of the harpsichord makes it suitable for a wide-ranging repertoire and for big concert halls. Romancing the Harpsichord is a concert presenting an early musical instrument, its expressive characteristics and particular usage in the late 17th and early 18th centuries’ performance practice. The predecessor of the pianoforte, it will display its different lines of roles, playing solos, accompanying other musical instruments and singers, and performing in ensembles as a thoroughbass. The programme is comprised of works by composers of the German, French, British and Italian schools . |
