Ulrike Jochum,

Guest Designer, is a set designer, musician and architect. She graduated from the Trier Special High School with a degree in Architecture. At the same time she studied in the Luxembourg Conservatoire.

In 1993 she was one of the founders of the “Schall und Rauch Theater Trier”. In 2002 she was appointed art director in the Magdeburg Free Chamber Theatre (Freie Kammerspiele Magdeburg). In 2006 she became art director in the Ingolstadt Theatre. Ulrike Jochum has designed sets for many opera and theatre productions including Gorky’s The Lower Depth, Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor, Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and Cosi fan tutte, Verdi’s Aida, Strauss’ Elektra, Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, and many others.

Since 2007 she has been a teacher at the Coburg College (Fachhochschule Coburg). In addition to her work as a designer, Ulrike Jochum composes “architectural music”, which means that spatial bodies are depicted in sounds according to their proportions. In 1999 she created her first architectural composition, which was followed by other works.

Since 2014 Ulrike Jochum has been in charge of the reconstruction of the State Theatre at Gärtnerplatz in Munich.
