| Sergey Murzaev, baritone. In 1991, he graduated from the Chelyabinsk Music College (Gavrilova’s class) and the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (Professor Skunchenko’s class). In the same year he was got into the trainee group of the Bolshoi Theatre. From 1992 till 2007 he was soloist there. At the Bolshoi Theatre he performed such parts as a Matchmaker in Dargomyzhsky’s Rusalka, Prince Igor in Borodin’s homonymous opera, Andrey Shchelkalov in Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov, Shaklovity in Mussorgsky’s Khovanshchina, Lionel in Tchaikovsky’s The Maid of Orleans, Eugene Onegin in Tchaikovsky’s homonymous opera, Yeletsky, Tomsky in Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades, Robert, Ibn-Hakia in Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta, Grigory Gryaznoy in Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar’s Bride, Lanciotto Malatesta in Rachmaninoff’s Francesca da Rimini, Uteshitelny in Shostakovich’s The Gamblers, Macbeth in Verdi’s homonymous opera, Count di Luna in Verdi’s Il trovatore, Giorgio Germont in Verdi’s La Traviata, Renato in Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera, Don Carlo in Verdi’s La forza del destino, Amonasro in Verdi’s Aida, Silvio in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci, Marcello in Puccini’s La Boheme, Scarpia in Puccini’s Tosca. Since 2000 he has been guest soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre, where he has sung in the productions of Borodin’s Prince Igor, Verdi’s Macbeth, Un ballo in maschera, Simon Boccanegra, Otello, Aida and performed the leading baritone parts in Mussorgsky’s Khovanshchina, Rachmaninoff’s Francesca da Rimini, Puccini’s Tosca. His repertoire also includes Barnaba in Ponchielli’s La Gioconda, Tonio in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci, Rangoni in Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov, Alfio in Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana, Carlo Gérard in Giordano’s Andrea Chénier. Sergey Murzaev appeared at the Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall (New York), La Scala (Milan), the Royal Opera Covent Garden (London), Bastille Opera House (Paris). He toured in Austria, Germany, the USA, Brazil, Chile, Portugal, China, Japan, Korea, Spain, Luxembourg, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, Finland, France and Russia.
