Ralf Långbaсka,

Guest Stage Director, is called the “best Finnish stage director” and “pride of Finland”. He has showed his directing skills in Sweden, Denmark and Germany. In his native Finland he has staged over one hundred dramatic and opera productions and has directed feature films. Moreover, Ralf has written a few books (including plays) and numerous poems. In 1956, he graduated from the Finnish Åbo Akademi (Academy of Arts) and then continued his studies in Munich and Berlin. Since 1958, he has been a stage director and the artistic director of the leading theatres in Finland and Sweden. Ralf Långbacka’s first opera production was Berg’s Wozzeck, staged at the Finnish National Opera in 1967. It was followed by Bizet’s Carmen, Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Verdi’s Macbeth and Don Carlo, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Mozart and Salieri, and other productions. Verdi’s Rigoletto was Ralf Långbacka’s debut in Russia.
