Mikhail Segelman,

Literary Manager
Music historian, music critic, pianist, educator and concert manager, Mikhail Segelman graduated from the Music History and Theory Department of the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory (undergraduate and graduate studies) and from the Maimonides State Classical Academy (assistantship and internship in the accompaniment art).

Mikhail is a member of the Russian Union of Journalists, an official expert of the Russian Ministry of Culture for Russian presidential grants and governmental awards in culture (2011–2012), a winner of the All-Russia Award for journalistic works about the Saratov Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre (2008). In 2007, he received a certificate of gratitude from the Co-Chairs of the Steering Committee of the XIII International Tchaikovsky Competition for his work as the technical director of the singers’ competition. In 2010, he was awarded the Medal of Merit of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (“For Outstanding Contribution to Development of Jewish Cultural and Communal Life and Efforts to Strengthen International Understanding and Friendship”).

He has written scientific articles and numerous publications for print and electronic media, CD liner notes, and forewords to the catalogues of Myaskovsky’s and Shebalin’s works published by Chant du Monde (Paris, France). In 2010, he compiled and edited the “Wings of Music”, a collection of articles about the Zhukovsky Symphony Orchestra (2010).
In 2008–2013, he hosted the live programme “Saturday Night with Mikhail Segelman” at the Radio Orpheus station which arranged interviews with prominent contemporary musicians and music professionals.
Mikhail has been a narrator at numerous indoor and open-air musical events and festivals in Russia and abroad. He has created and managed large arts projects.

 

In 2013–2015 he was the Head of the International Relations Department of the Kolobov Novaya Opera Theatre of Moscow. Since 2013, Mikhail Segelman has been Literary Manager.
