Guest Stage Director
Made his debut as a stage director with productions for The Whole World International Theatre Centre on Arbat. Since 2004, he has been a director at the Bolshoi Theatre, where he has participated in productions of the following operas: Shostakovich’s Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk (producer Temur Chkheidze), Wagner’s Der fliegende Holländer (producer Peter Konvichny), Puccini‘s Madama Butterfly (producer Robert Wilson), Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, (producer Graham Wick), Borodin’s Prince Igor (producer Yuri Lyubimov); also he has participated in productions of Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, Berg’s Wozzeck, Glinka’s Ruslan and Lyudmila (producer Dmitry Chernyakov), Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov (producer Alexander Sokurov), Tchaikovsky The Queen of Spades (producer Valery Fokin).

He directed the localization of Boris Godunov at the Savonlinna Festival during the Bolshoi Theatre’s tour in Finland (2007). In 2011, he directed the renewal of Leonid Baratov’s production of Boris Godunov on the Bolshoi Theatre historical stage (2011). He produced Britten’s The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra (2013), and Tune in to the Opera, “a small performance at the Bolshoi”.

Among his productions are the following operas: Mozart’s Der Schauspieldirektor (Tsaritsynskaya Opera Volgograd State Theatre, 2006), Haydn‘s Lo Speziale (The Hermitage Theatre, St.Petersburg, 2008), Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta, (Trondheim, Norway, 2010), Cimarosa’s L’impresario in angustie (Russian premiere, MIPAC, 2011), Rossini’s Le comte Ory (2012), Paisiello’s Gli astrologi immaginari (2013), Verdi’s Otello (2013) (Yekaterinburg State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre).The production of Le comte Ory was nominated for the Golden Mask Award in eight categories, including “opera/production” and “opera/director’s work”.
