Andrey Danilov,

Guest Conductor. Andrey Danilov graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in St. Petersburg. (Prof. Ilya Musin and Yuri Temirkanov’s class, 2000). He attended masterclasses of Yuri Simonov, Mark Elder and Zubin Mehta. In 2000–2002, he did a training course at the Royal Northern College of Music (Manchester).
 

In 2001–2002, Andrey Danilov was an assistant conductor of the Royal Northern Sinfonia British chamber orchestra (Newcastle). In 2002–2005, he was a conductor of the Safonov North-Caucasian State Philharmonic Society (Kislovodsk).

 

Since 2000, Andrey Danilov has been collaborating with many Russian orchestras including the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Evgeny Svetlanov State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia, the National Philharmonic of Russia, the Novaya Rossia Symphony Orchestra, Pavel Kogan’s Moscow State Academic Symphony Orchestra, to name a few.

 

He has also worked with famous musicians such as Denis Matsuev, Pascal Rogé and Ekaterina Mechetina.

 

In 2005–2012, Andrey Danilov was a conductor at the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. He did a number of productions including Stravinsky’s ballets Apollon musagète and Pulcinella, Serenade to Tchaikovsky’s music, Bizet’s opera Carmen. As the theatre’s conductor he won the Golden Mask National Theatre Award in the category The Best Conductor’s Work in Ballet (Minkus’ La Bayadère, 2009). He was on tour with the theatre company in China, South Korea, Thailand and France.

 

The conductor’s repertoire comprises many opera and ballet productions including Eugene Onegin, La Traviata, Carmen, Tosca, La Cenerentola, Roméo et Juliette, Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Giselle.

 

Since 2008, Andrey Danilov has been a guest conductor of the Mikhailovsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. Since 2009, he has been a guest conductor of the Mariinsky Theatre and the chief guest conductor of the Samara Philharmonic Orchestra. At the Mariinsky Theatre he conducted Carmen, Tosca, Madama Butterfly, The Nutcracker, Don Quixote, Giselle and La Sylphide.

 

He participated in the Territory and Crescendo festivals. He has frequently conducted performances at the Golden Mask Festival in Moscow.

 

He works with many European theatres, such as Teatro Real in Madrid (productions of the operas Iolanta and Macbeth) and Festspielhaus Baden-Baden (opera Carmen). In 2015, he conducted the performances Perséphone and Iolanta at the Aix-en-Provence Festival. He works with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra (Dublin, Ireland) and Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester (Sønderborg, Denmark).

 

In 2012, Andrey Danilov was the music director of a production of Minkus’ La Bayadère in the Samara Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre. In 2012–2017, he was a conductor at the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre. He also worked at productions of the operas Cavalleria rusticana, Suor Angelica, Ruslan and Lyudmila and the ballet Le baiser de la fée.

 

Since 2017, Andrey Danilov has been a conductor of the Samara Opera and Ballet Theatre and the chief conductor of the Tchaikovsky St. Petersburg Ballet Theatre.
