Alexander Zhilenkov,

an accompanist, conductor’s assistant. Graduated from the Gnessins Russian Academy of Music (Prof. Liberman’s class); he also took an optional course of conducting. Since 2001, he has been an accompanist and conductor’s assistant (2001–2015) at the Novaya Opera Theatre of Moscow, where he has worked on preparing the theatre’s productions and concert programmes and has taken part in tours.

In 2008, he began to work as a conductor at the Russkaya Opera non-repertory theatre. From 2008 to 2010, he appeared as an accompanist in concerts with Russian pop stars such as Renat Ibragimov, Tamara Gverdtsiteli, Sergey Zakharov. In 2010 to 2011, he was the Chief Conductor of the Ivanovo State Philharmonic and a conductor at the Ivanovo Regional Music Theatre. In 2013 to 2014, he worked as a conductor at the Moscow Puppet Theatre.

As a guest conductor he worked with the Kostroma State Philharmonic orchestra, and the Tzaritsinskaya Opera theatre in Volgograd. With the Ivanovo Philharmonic Orchestra he participated in the Chaliapin International Competition titled Voices over Plyos and collaborated with the Moscow Camerata orchestra in the Moscow International Performing Arts Center. In collaboration with Constantine Orbelyan he conducted a concert of soloists of Metropolitan Opera (New York, USA) and Tzaritsynskaya Opera.

He produced Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel, and Mussorgsky’s Sorochinskaya Yarmarka at the Russkaya Opera Theatre in Moscow; Offenbach’s / Un mari à la porte/ musical comedy at the Ivanovo Regional Music Theatre; Prokofiev’s Peter and Wolf at the Moscow Puppet Theatre; Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro and Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar’s Bride at the Tsaritsynskaya Opera Theatre in Volgograd.

In 2014–2015, he conducted Eugene Onegin and Iolanta (both by Tchaikovsky), Puccini’s Tosсa, Bizet’s Carmen, Mozart’s Così fan tutte, ossia La scuola degli amanti. Also, he conducted the following ballets: Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, Adam’s Giselle (all at the Tsaritsynskaya Opera). In May 2015, he conducted the premiere of Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia at the North Caucasus State Philharmonic (Kislovodsk).

At the Novaya Opera Theatre of Moscow he prepared and held chamber programmes in the Mirror Foyer: Around Wagner (in collaboration with Tatyana Sotnikova) and Oleg Shagotsky’s recital. He participated in a series of portrait concerts during the Opera Garden Contemporary Music Festival where he presented the programmes Alice through the Looking Glass (a scenic composition to Podgaits’s music) and Poet. Marina (vocal cycles by Alexander Zhurbin). He takes part in the theatre's concerts at the State Darwin Museum.
